Today I wanted to do a post about the website Poshmark. This site is a place to re-sell your clothing, jewelry, handbags, etc. I’ve used this site many times and I am actually shocked at how many times I’ve been able to use it. Most of the clothing I own that I would be willing to part with is super worn and wouldn’t sell for anything. However, I’ve managed to find several things in my closet that were decent enough to sell on Poshmark. Sometimes we just outgrow things, either physically or style-wise. For the purpose of detailing what kinds of things are able to sell on this website, I’ll list below everything I’ve sold through Poshmark:
Forever 21 black skinny jeans: sold for $8
While it’s not a lot of money, the jeans didn’t fit me anymore and they only took up space in my closet. Personally I would rather have a bit of money than an item of clothing I literally never use.
Coach flats: sold for $35
Designer stuff is pretty easy to sell on Poshmark. There seems to be a large community of people on there that either buy designer items for their own enjoyment or to re-sell at a higher price, we’ll never know… It doesn’t matter to me what the buyer does with my stuff after they’ve purchased it!
Flower statement necklace: sold for $12
I bought this necklace when I was going through sorority recruitment to wear with one of my formal outfits. I usually wear more delicate jewelry in my usual style so I didn’t want this item anymore.
Coach canvas logo purse: sold for $75
As I said before, designer stuff is easy to sell. Most people just want to know that it’s authentic so it would be great if you have a way of verifying that. In this case, I included the duster bag that I got when I purchased the bag from Coach.
Michael Kors jet set logo tote: sold for $145
Michael Kors is insanely popular on this app and in most of the real world as well. This bag retails for $198 brand new so I was kind of shocked to get so much money for a used bag. It was in great condition though.
Poshmark is unique because it doesn’t make the seller pay for the shipping cost. I’ve found this to be one of the main reasons why I sell my items through them instead of other sites like eBay or craigslist. Ebay makes you figure out your own shipping method and pay for it yourself, while craigslist exposes you to weirdos! Poshmark provides a pre-paid shipping label which I just print out and adhere to a box I found laying in my garage from one of my Dad’s many Amazon.com purchases.
So overall, Poshmark is an awesome website to list things that you no longer want or need. Unfortunately, this site does have a downside. They do take a rather large cut of your profits. If you’re selling something that costs less than $15, Poshmark will take $2.95. If you’re selling something that costs $15 or more, Poshmark takes 20%. Their fees are understandable because it would not be as easy to network with people who are specifically looking for gently used women’s fashions of all price ranges. That doesn’t stop the pain from setting in when you sell a Michael Kors bag and only receive $116…. haha.
Despite this downside, I will definitely continue to use Poshmark. It’s a nice way to not only clean out your closet but to make a bit of money in the process.

My outfit for school today was pretty girly and cute! I’ve been dressing like a bum for most of the semester but recently I’ve been stepping it up. Maybe it has something to do with the weather dropping below 90 degrees for the first time…
My dress was given to me by my awesome cousin from Forever 21. It’s a pretty blue color with a small, white floral print. The tiered design makes it pretty unique, I don’t own anything like it! I found some similar dresses here, here and here. I got my boots during black friday last year at Macy’s. This is my second pair of black friday boots from there, they always seem to have some crazy deals on shoes during black friday. Hopefully I can score another pair this year. They’re currently sold out on Macy’s website but they are the Rampage Idera riding boots for anyone who’s wondering. My necklace that you can barely see is also from Macy’s. It’s a cute little silver key!
I can’t remember the last time I was this obsessed with a clothing item. It’s shallow, but it’s such an awesome feeling to find something cute that you know you will wear a million times just because it makes you so happy. I feel like these pants match my personality, free flowing, easy going and kind of weird.
I loved these so much I bought another pair in black and white. I wish it wasn’t so hot already so I could wear both of them more often. Luckily I got the chance to wear them out to dinner this evening. I think these pants look best with a cropped top because they sit kind of high on my waist. This crop top is one of those awesome tie-back halter tops, it’s backless and I wanted to get a cool shot showing the open back but by the time I thought of it it was dark outside :(
AMAZING palazzo/wide leg printed pants: Macy’s, they were originally $34 but they were hella on sale so I got both pairs for about that price.
Halter crop top: $10-ish from Brandy Melville, as you can see from my fancy photo editing skills above
Flip flops (not that you can really see them…): Flojos from Costco
Today we had some relatively bad weather (for LA at least). Shopping was our rainy day activity of choice (although we went to an outdoor mall…). It didn’t really rain til later in the day but it was pretty cold so layers were key. I wore my favorite sweatshirt/top thing from Whole Foods, who would have thought that would be a good clothing store? I think the mint keeps the outfit from being too dark, like so many of my outfits are. I also wore one of my favorite scarves, it’s so soft and luxurious.
Lastly, what’s a Nutmegan blog post without food pictures? This was my first time at Veggie Grill and I had such a hard time choosing what to order! I decided on the vegan crab cake burger because it sounded so unique and it was! After lunch we went over to Sprinkles cupcakes and they had a vegan red velvet cupcake! It was really good, and instead of Sprinkles’ classic fondant circle on top, there was a “V” for vegan. Very cute and delicious.
Today was a pretty casual day. We went out to lunch at Chipotle (delicious) and then went thrift shopping. I went to a thrift store I had never been to before and found two new shirts. I like one of them and kind of regret buying the other, but oh well (it was only $6). I also had class later this night (I started college! I’m only taking one class currently but I start a second one in April). I changed this outfit a little bit for class but didn’t take a photo. Instead, I wore my black Hot Topic jeans and added my Tilly’s black and gray jacket. I feel like this shirt looks so dressy, it makes me feel less slobby than my usual jeans, furry boots and tee shirt. Also, let’s just take a moment to appreciate how great scarves are. Now that this was the most random/poorly thought out post on this blog, I will say goodbye and thanks for reading!
Vest – some store at Simi Valley mall, v-neck – Forever21, jeans – Macy’s, flip flops – Ross, purse – Ross, sunglasses – Target. spike bracelet – Brandy Melville
My family from out of town is here so we’ve been doing some fun things around southern California. Today we went to lunch at this awesome restaurant called Native Foods Cafe, and we had dessert at Diddy Riese.
This was my delicious vegan reuben sandwich.
It was a little cold out and I forgot my jacket, but it was still fun. I was also wearing my newest Neff beanie, it’s mint green! We went on the ferris wheel on the pier, I’ve been on it once before but it was still awesome! The view is insane, if you are visiting near Santa Monica I highly recommend it, I think it’s only like $5 per person.
The day I wore this we just did some shopping at a cool mall.I wanted a festive and comfortable outfit. My vest and hair blocked my shirt but it has an adorable sparkly walrus on it! It was actually from the little girl’s section at Target… but hey, an extra large fits and it was only $6! You won’t find that deal in the junior’s/misses section, haha! I wish I had a better picture of my purse and shoes as well, but I’m too lazy. Anyways, the moccasins are silver and sequined and the purse is gloriously covered in black sequins! I think they tie in pretty well with the glitter walrus. To make the outfit feel more winter-y without adding too many layers I wore this puffy gray vest and my favorite gray beanie (not pictured). Random side note: I ate at Which Wich for the first time and it was so good! Anyways, I hope everyone is having a merry Christmas!
Beginning of fall: Judging from the fashion blogs I read fall is almost over for most of the country. But good old California is just beginning to see the leaves turn color and the thermometer drop below 100 degrees. It is a welcome change and it’s so beautiful! I went on my first bike ride in quite a while and the clouds and trees were so pretty!
Bike riding: I only went twice in the month of October but that’s a start! It’s starting to look like fall here in Southern California so it’s beautiful to ride around town and see it. My bike is super uncomfortable so I’m hoping to get a beach cruiser. I rode one quite a bit this summer and it was so awesome!
We used to wait – Arcade Fire
Sun hands – Local Natives
Thrift shop – Macklemore
Gray converse: I was a big Vans girl this summer, it must have something to do with moving to California. But lately I’ve been wearing my trusty converse more and boy did I miss these. They are SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE than Vans. Maybe people from the northwest are born with feet to fit Converse and people from California to fit Vans. Just a theory. Does anyone else associate Vans with California and Converse with more nerdy/grunge-y places like the northwest…?
Reeses pumpkins: These have actually been so bad for me. I try to limit myself but I keep ending up eating a million of these per day. They are so good though!! Also, they’re cuter and more peanut butter-y than the regular Reeses cups.
Delightfully tacky: This blog has always been one of my favorites but recently even more so. Honestly, reading her blog is what gave me the motivation to get back to writing blog posts. Usually my posts are pretty short and there’s more pictures than words, but I love reading her posts as well as looking at her outfits. Also, she lives in Washington and her photos make me sad to see the weather that I miss so much!
Bloglovin app: I follow a pretty large amount of blogs and this app makes it easy for me to read all of their posts without forgetting or losing track of which blogs I enjoy. The new update also lets you like peoples posts which is cool!
I always enjoy when I find a new outfit that actually looks good. Often when I’m trying out new outfit combinations I feel uncomfortable because it’s not what I’m used to or I think it looks odd. I’m pretty happy with the way this one turned out. Today it was still fairly warm but not as hot as it was a few weeks ago. The three quarter length sleeves and light weight of the cardigan made it comfortable. I haven’t worn this shirt very much but I think it will be great for all seasons. It’s a tank top but works well for layering.
Now my new favorite accessory, my beanie!! I have never had a beanie that stays on my head like this one, I’m thinking of doing a review on it sometime. I love it so much and it makes all of my outfits feel perfect to me. The fall colors and boots make it great for the season too!
Blue and gold eye look – TheKalynTheory: I had been wanting to find a way to wear blue eyeshadow without looking clown-ish and this tutorial was really helpful! I recreated this look and I liked it but it did require a lot of blending. It was also nice because I had the exact eyeshadows she used other than the blue.
