The Grove and more vegan food!

Today we had some relatively bad weather (for LA at least). Shopping was our rainy day activity of choice (although we went to an outdoor mall…). It didn’t really rain til later in the day but it was pretty cold so layers were key. I wore my favorite sweatshirt/top thing from Whole Foods, who would have thought that would be a good clothing store? I think the mint keeps the outfit from being too dark, like so many of my outfits are. I also wore one of my favorite scarves, it’s so soft and luxurious.

vegancrabcakeburgersprinklesbagLastly, what’s a Nutmegan blog post without food pictures? This was my first time at Veggie Grill and I had such a hard time choosing what to order! I decided on the vegan crab cake burger because it sounded so unique and it was! After lunch we went over to Sprinkles cupcakes and they had a vegan red velvet cupcake! It was really good, and instead of Sprinkles’ classic fondant circle on top, there was a “V” for vegan. Very cute and delicious.

Outfit of the Day

jacket - Costco, shirt - Urban Outfitters, jeans - Macy's, boots - JCPenney

jacket – Costco, shirt – Urban Outfitters, jeans – Macy’s, boots – JCPenney

I wore this outfit when it was finally getting legitimately cold here (Now it’s warming up again. Excuse me, it’s January, the high should not be 72 degrees!) This was the first time I’ve worn these jeans and I really like them! They’re comfortable like my amazing black Hot Topic jeans, but they’re blue and more versatile. The only thing I don’t like is the stupid logo for the cheap brand I bought them from, haha! I love how the mountain/tree print shirt and forest green jacket make the outfit feel northwest-y. These furry boots totally finish the comfortable outfit. Thanks for reading!

Outfit of the Day

vest - Macy's, shirt - Target, jeans - Macy's, shoes - Target, purse - Macy's

The day I wore this we just did some shopping at a cool mall.I wanted a festive and comfortable outfit. My vest and hair blocked my shirt but it has an adorable sparkly walrus on it! It was actually from the little girl’s section at Target… but hey, an extra large fits and it was only $6! You won’t find that deal in the junior’s/misses section, haha! I wish I had a better picture of my purse and shoes as well, but I’m too lazy. Anyways, the moccasins are silver and sequined and the purse is gloriously covered in black sequins! I think they tie in pretty well with the glitter walrus. To make the outfit feel more winter-y without adding too many layers I wore this puffy gray vest and my favorite gray beanie (not pictured).
bigxmastreewhichwichRandom side note: I ate at Which Wich for the first time and it was so good! Anyways, I hope everyone is having a merry Christmas!

Outfit of the Day

vest – Macy’s, plaid top – Old Navy, jeans – Wet Seal, purse – Macy’s, boots – JCPenney

I wore this outfit yesterday for some last minute Christmas shopping! I want to wear this flannel as much as I can while it’s winter because the colors are so Christmas-y. I got this vest last year and I haven’t worn it too much, but I’ve been starting to lately. To make the outfit more festive I wore my favorite furry boots and sequin satchel. This bag is so awesome in the winter time, I love sparkles!
SONY DSCI hope everyone has a happy holiday season and a merry Christmas!

Silver Bells

Revlon – Silver Dollar

Woo, Christmas nails!
This polish is pretty great. It’s extremely metallic. My brother even said it looked like I had metal on my nails! The only bad thing is that I bought this before I knew Revlon wasn’t cruelty free, so I won’t be purchasing it again. Although, I never re-purchase nail polishes because I never use them up! Anyways, this was only one decently thick coat and it is totally opaque.

Outfit of the Day

plaid top – Forever21, black v-neck – Target, black jeans – Hot Topic, boots – Charlotte Russe, necklace – Disneyland crystal shop

This outfit’s becoming way typical of me. I wore this on probably the busiest, worst day I’ve had in a while. I started the morning with hours of finals while I was still getting over a bad cold. Then I went to the dentist and found out that my braces gave me two cavities :( the first cavities I’ve had in my whole life!! Luckily that day is over! Anyways, I do like this outfit despite the crappy day. As I’ve mentioned before, these plaid shirts are my favorite! My Hot Topic jeans are also the most comfortable in existence.

heartnecklaceSONY DSCAs the day wore on, it got colder and we actually had a freak hail storm! I got soaked just walking from my car to the mall. Luckily I added a brown faux-leather jacket, but I forgot to photograph it :( plus, who wants to take blog photos while getting hailed on? Sure as hail not me.

Christmas Shopping Outfit of the Day

plaid shirt – Forever21, black v-neck – Target, black leggings – Forever21, boots – JCPenney, necklace – Macy’s

This may be one of my new favorite outfits. I recently got these awesome plaid shirts from Forever21 for $12! They’re perfect for my style and especially with the winter weather here in southern California. I thought the red was slightly festive, and looked even more winter-y paired with these boots. I actually bought these while I was out shopping and I love them! They might be slippers but I’m the type that will wear whatever footwear out of the house as long as it is suitable and these have awesome thick soles.
SONY DSCI can see why some people might think they’re ugly but I always tend to like things that other people think are hideous (e.g. bubble necklaces). Anyways, I loved this cozy SoCal winter outfit! I hope everyone is having a good holiday season.

Thanksgiving Outfit of the Day

V-neck: Forever21, Scarf: World Market, Jeans: Hot Topic, Boots: Macy’s

Admittedly, my outfit for thanksgiving dinner consisted of flannel pj pants and cozy layers. I put this on later for some black Friday shopping, which has turned into black Thursday which is so dumb! But what corporate America wants, corporate America gets haha! I actually like this outfit a lot. It was decently warm today as I live in California so I didn’t need a jacket or anything but it’s thanksgiving so I’m not going to wear shorts and a tank top (although some people shopping were!).

I just got this scarf yesterday and it’s so me! Shades of green/teal are my favorite colors and I love silver so it’s perfect. These jeans are also great, they’re the Hot Topic super skinny jeans and they don’t lose their shape at all. Finally, my first pair of real riding boots, Macy’s had them on sale for $25 dollars but they’re going to be $20 for black Friday if anyone’s interested. I plan on going out for more shopping later so I’ll probably modify the outfit for the cold. Anyways, I hope everyone had an awesome thanksgiving and if you plan on going black Friday shopping I hope you get all of the good deals :)

October Favorites

Beginning of fall: Judging from the fashion blogs I read fall is almost over for most of the country. But good old California is just beginning to see the leaves turn color and the thermometer drop below 100 degrees. It is a welcome change and it’s so beautiful! I went on my first bike ride in quite a while and the clouds and trees were so pretty!

Bike riding: I only went twice in the month of October but that’s a start! It’s starting to look like fall here in Southern California so it’s beautiful to ride around town and see it. My bike is super uncomfortable so I’m hoping to get a beach cruiser. I rode one quite a bit this summer and it was so awesome!

We used to wait – Arcade Fire

Sun hands – Local Natives

Thrift shop  – Macklemore

Gray converse: I was a big Vans girl this summer, it must have something to do with moving to California. But lately I’ve been wearing my trusty converse more and boy did I miss these. They are SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE than Vans. Maybe people from the northwest are born with feet to fit Converse and people from California to fit Vans. Just a theory. Does anyone else associate Vans with California and Converse with more nerdy/grunge-y  places like the northwest…?

Reeses pumpkins: These have actually been so bad for me. I try to limit myself but I keep ending up eating a million of these per day. They are so good though!! Also, they’re cuter and more peanut butter-y than the regular Reeses cups.

Delightfully tacky: This blog has always been one of my favorites but recently even more so. Honestly, reading her blog is what gave me the motivation to get back to writing blog posts. Usually my posts are pretty short and there’s more pictures than words, but I love reading her posts as well as looking at her outfits. Also, she lives in Washington and her photos make me sad to see the weather that I miss so much!

Bloglovin app: I follow a pretty large amount of blogs and this app makes it easy for me to read all of their posts without forgetting or losing track of which blogs I enjoy. The new update also lets you like peoples posts which is cool!

Halloween Manicure

I wish that I had put this up before Halloween, but I didn’t even paint my nails until it was Halloween. I thought I would put it up anyway because I’m proud of it!

I did candy corn nails last year but this year was so last minute that I wanted to do something less time consuming. On my thumbs and middle fingers I did jack-o-lanterns and on my pinkies I used an orange polish and a black sparkly polish on top of that.

Polishes used: orange – OPI brights power, yellow – OPI need sunglasses?, white sparkles – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Disco Ball, sparkly black – Petites midnight frost, black nail art pen – Art Deco black

I hope everyone had a happy Halloween!
