Happy Halloween!

halloween outfit 1

Today is Halloween! My outfit isn’t very festive but this is what I wore to the mall and Panera for lunch. As you can see, my outfit photos for today were taken in the JCPenney dressing room, haha! I haven’t done anything particularly Halloween-y so far. I may answer the door for trick-or-treaters later but I am currently burning a pumpkin cupcake scented candle and wearing a dorky orange t-shirt with a jack-o-lantern face on it!

My jeans are from Macy’s, they’re super comfortable and soft except for a tag that is sewn into the back of the waist and I can’t remove it! It’s so itchy! Anway, my top is from Target but it was given to me by my cousin. I love that it is a sweater material but still flowy and light so I can wear it in California’s ridiculously hot fall weather (although it’s actually cloudy and a moderate temperature today). Lastly, my brown boots are also from Macy’s. I mentioned them in a previous blog post but they are the Idera riding boots by Rampage.

Thanks for reading and Happy Halloween!

e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadows Review

I bought three of these colors at Target a while back because I’m always looking for new eye products. They were $3 a piece and I think that’s a fair price for the size of the product (.12 oz, compare to Urban Decay’s eyeshadow singles that run about $18 for .05 oz.). The packaging is nice and easy to open. From what I’ve tried, the colors are hit or miss but I definitely plan on trying more. Here is my experience with the colors I bought…

Bark: This color has become a total staple for me. If I somehow managed to run out of this product I would buy it again, although I don’t think I will need to considering the generous amount of product. This is a very shimmery brown color and it looks great with so many different eyeshadow colors. Most days I wear a cream eyeshadow on my eyelid with a warm brown/mauve in the crease and I don’t feel complete until I’ve blended some of this color on the outer part of my eyelid.

Image

Pixie: I had high hopes for this color, I’m a huge fan of colors like Urban Decay’s Sin and Virgin so I was hoping to find another shimmery pink lid color now that Urban Decay sold out to L’Oreal. It’s a pretty color but not as pigmented as I thought it would be. I find myself having to dig my brush into the product to get the coverage that I want.

Image

Burnt plum: I’m obsessed with this color. I tend to avoid colored eyeshadows because I find that they can easily look clown-ish. However, this eyeshadow is just neutral enough that I have no problem using it on a regular day. It’s very pigmented and I love blending it on the outer part of my eyelid when I’m wearing cream, brown or gold eye makeup. I think this is a fun yet easy way to add some color to your makeup.

Overall, I think these eyshadows are worth a try. I use two of them on a regular basis and I hope to get more colors in the future.

Lunch and thrifting

Shirt - Urban Outfitters, jeans - Wet Seal, scarf - Target, boots - Macy's, purse - Ross

Shirt – Urban Outfitters, jeans – Wet Seal, scarf – Target, boots – Macy’s, purse – Ross

Today was a pretty casual day. We went out to lunch at Chipotle (delicious) and then went thrift shopping. I went to a thrift store I had never been to before and found two new shirts. I like one of them and kind of regret buying the other, but oh well (it was only $6). I also had class later this night (I started college! I’m only taking one class currently but I start a second one in April). I changed this outfit a little bit for class but didn’t take a photo. Instead, I wore my black Hot Topic jeans and added my Tilly’s black and gray jacket. I feel like this shirt looks so dressy, it makes me feel less slobby than my usual jeans, furry boots and tee shirt. Also, let’s just take a moment to appreciate how great scarves are. Now that this was the most random/poorly thought out post on this blog, I will say goodbye and thanks for reading!

Vegan food and Santa Monica

Vest – some store at Simi Valley mall, v-neck – Forever21, jeans – Macy’s, flip flops – Ross, purse – Ross, sunglasses – Target. spike bracelet – Brandy Melville

My family from out of town is here so we’ve been doing some fun things around southern California. Today we went to lunch at this awesome restaurant called Native Foods Cafe, and we had dessert at Diddy Riese.

This was my delicious vegan reuben sandwich.

This was my delicious vegan reuben sandwich.

It was a little cold out and I forgot my jacket, but it was still fun. I was also wearing my newest Neff beanie, it’s mint green!
ferriswheelviewWe went on the ferris wheel on the pier, I’ve been on it once before but it was still awesome! The view is insane, if you are visiting near Santa Monica I highly recommend it, I think it’s only like $5 per person.

Outfit of the Day

vest - Macy's, shirt - Target, jeans - Macy's, shoes - Target, purse - Macy's

vest – Macy’s, shirt – Target, jeans – Macy’s, shoes – Target, purse – Macy’s

The day I wore this we just did some shopping at a cool mall.I wanted a festive and comfortable outfit. My vest and hair blocked my shirt but it has an adorable sparkly walrus on it! It was actually from the little girl’s section at Target… but hey, an extra large fits and it was only $6! You won’t find that deal in the junior’s/misses section, haha! I wish I had a better picture of my purse and shoes as well, but I’m too lazy. Anyways, the moccasins are silver and sequined and the purse is gloriously covered in black sequins! I think they tie in pretty well with the glitter walrus. To make the outfit feel more winter-y without adding too many layers I wore this puffy gray vest and my favorite gray beanie (not pictured).
bigxmastreewhichwichRandom side note: I ate at Which Wich for the first time and it was so good! Anyways, I hope everyone is having a merry Christmas!

Fall Outfit of the Day

Cardigan: Goodwill (from Target), Printed Top: Aeropostale, Gray Cami: JC Penney, Jeans: Hollister, Boots: Charlotte Russe, Neff beanie: Tilly’s

I always enjoy when I find a new outfit that actually looks good. Often when I’m trying out new outfit combinations I feel uncomfortable because it’s not what I’m used to or I think it looks odd. I’m pretty happy with the way this one turned out. Today it was still fairly warm but not as hot as it was a few weeks ago. The three quarter length sleeves and light weight of the cardigan made it comfortable. I haven’t worn this shirt very much but I think it will be great for all seasons. It’s a tank top but works well for layering.

Now my new favorite accessory, my beanie!! I have never had a beanie that stays on my head like this one, I’m thinking of doing a review on it sometime. I love it so much and it makes all of my outfits feel perfect to me. The fall colors and boots make it great for the season too!

Review: Xhilaration Watches

I own two of these watches and I adore both of them! The first one I got was mint green (courtesy of my mom) and the second was purple (courtesy of my cousin).

Pros:

  • Awesome colors (I die for mint green), and it also comes in a bunch of other colors
  • Cool material, it’s like soft, rubbery and matte which keeps it from looking like cheap plastic
  • Only $12.99, that’s like unheard of for watches. It’s also easy to purchase, sold at Target.
  • Not too masculine, without being like a tiny women’s watch
  • Versatile, I wear one of the two I own almost every day. The colors go with way more than I thought they would.
  • In my case they fit perfectly, I didn’t have to take any of the links out. I’m pretty sure my wrists are average size so they would probably fit well on most people.

Cons:

  • None

Traveling Outfit of the Day

This was the day I came home from my trip to the Northwest :( Anyways, I’m a comfort freak when I travel so this outfit definitely fulfilled that!

Yoga leggings: Victoria’s Secret
Cami: Target
Tee shirt: Urban Outfitters
Moccasins: JC Penney
Watch: Target
Necklace: Space Needle gift shop
Ring that you can hardly see: Kohls

Review: Target Xhilaration Wayfarers

Pros:

  • way cute!
  • they come in a crap load of colors, prints and finishes
  • fairly cheap, $13
  • easy to buy, sold at Target
  • more comfortable than a lot of sunglasses, they don’t dig into your ears

Cons:

  • can get uncomfortable after awhile (e.g. headache) but I have that problem with every pair of sunglasses

I would recommend these if you are looking for a somewhat unique, versatile pair of glasses.

Portland Outfit of the Day

Today we started out by going downtown, and I saw Tom Hanks and he waved at me!!! After that we just did different things near the Portland area. I changed my outfit a little bit as the day got hotter.

Dress: I really can’t remember, but the brand is “One Clothing”
Jacket: Tilly’s
Crossbody: San Diego Saturday market
Flip flops: Old Navy
Watch: Target
Bracelets: 99 cent store
Necklace: Cannon Beach

Sparkly bricks! These were so cute.

Tom Hanks!

Vegan!

I don’t think this is exactly the one but we went near a rock used in a Twilight scene
