Red sweater + ballet flats

red sweater 1

I’ve had a big box of clothes sitting in my room that I haven’t worn since I lived in the dorms last year so I decided to go through it and I found this sweater! I totally forgot about it but I’m really happy I have it. It’s a nice lightweight sweater top and it’s longer in the back so it goes well with leggings. I found some similar tops here and here. I’m wearing mine with black jeans from Hot Topic in this outfit. These jeans are so soft and comfortable, they might as well be leggings. Too bad Hot Topic doesn’t sell these Lovesick brand jeans in regular blue washes!

I tend to wear boots with most of my outfits in the fall but these flats from Payless are much more girly. I found some similar black bow flats here, here and here. I think they kept the outfit feminine since I’m wearing mostly dark colors.

Taupe sweater + red bag

red bag 1

I’ve been taking advantage of the cooler weather the past few days by wearing fall clothes! This outfit was comfy and warm (although as the day goes on I may have to re-think the sweater if it gets any hotter outside). I can’t remember where my sweater is from but it’s a neutral taupe color and long enough to be worn with leggings (although I often treat leggings as pants anyway…) My leggings are from Victoria’s Secret PINK. I used to buy most of my leggings from Forever21 but they got worn out so quickly and were very sheer. These are much thicker and seem to be holding up despite the fact that I wear them frequently when it’s cold enough. My boots are the same Rampage Idera brown riding boots from Macy’s that I’ve mentioned in several posts.

red bag 2

Now the highlight of this simple outfit is my red bag! I got this bag at Stein Mart and I love it! It’s by the brand Imoshion which states on their website that they make “animal-free vegan handbags,” perfect! It’s pretty large so it’s great for school and fits my notebook and textbooks. There’s also really cool details like gold chain on the shoulder strap, a snakeskin design at the base of the shorter straps and it comes with a long strap to be worn cross-body! I think it looks more expensive than it was.

Anyway, I hope you liked my outfit and thanks for reading!

Happy Halloween!

halloween outfit 1

Today is Halloween! My outfit isn’t very festive but this is what I wore to the mall and Panera for lunch. As you can see, my outfit photos for today were taken in the JCPenney dressing room, haha! I haven’t done anything particularly Halloween-y so far. I may answer the door for trick-or-treaters later but I am currently burning a pumpkin cupcake scented candle and wearing a dorky orange t-shirt with a jack-o-lantern face on it!

halloween outfit 2

My jeans are from Macy’s, they’re super comfortable and soft except for a tag that is sewn into the back of the waist and I can’t remove it! It’s so itchy! Anway, my top is from Target but it was given to me by my cousin. I love that it is a sweater material but still flowy and light so I can wear it in California’s ridiculously hot fall weather (although it’s actually cloudy and a moderate temperature today). Lastly, my brown boots are also from Macy’s. I mentioned them in a previous blog post but they are the Idera riding boots by Rampage.

Thanks for reading and Happy Halloween!

Dress + boots for class

My outfit for school today was pretty girly and cute! I’ve been dressing like a bum for most of the semester but recently I’ve been stepping it up. Maybe it has something to do with the weather dropping below 90 degrees for the first time…

floral tiered dresstiered dress and boots

My dress was given to me by my  awesome cousin from Forever 21. It’s a pretty blue color with a small, white floral print. The tiered design makes it pretty unique, I don’t own anything like it! I found some similar dresses here, here and here. I got my boots during black friday last year at Macy’s. This is my second pair of black friday boots from there, they always seem to have some crazy deals on shoes during black friday. Hopefully I can score another pair this year. They’re currently sold out on Macy’s website but they are the Rampage Idera riding boots for anyone who’s wondering. My necklace that you can barely see is also from Macy’s. It’s a cute little silver key!

Dinner Outfit of the Night

red printed pants full outfit

I can’t remember the last time I was this obsessed with a clothing item. It’s shallow, but it’s such an awesome feeling to find something cute that you know you will wear a million times just because it makes you so happy. I feel like these pants match my personality, free flowing, easy going and kind of weird.

I loved these so much I bought another pair in black and white. I wish it wasn’t so hot already so I could wear both of them more often. Luckily I got the chance to wear them out to dinner this evening. I think these pants look best with a cropped top because they sit kind of high on my waist. This crop top is one of those awesome tie-back halter tops, it’s backless and I wanted to get a cool shot showing the open back but by the time I thought of it it was dark outside :(

Outfit details:

  • AMAZING palazzo/wide leg printed pants: Macy’s, they were originally $34 but they were hella on sale so I got both pairs for about that price.
  • Halter crop top: $10-ish from Brandy Melville, as you can see from my fancy photo editing skills above
  • Flip flops (not that you can really see them…): Flojos from Costco

Shopping Outfit of the Day

pink tribal crop top outfit

I wore this outfit yesterday to go shopping. I used to hate high waisted shorts but I think this pair isn’t too extreme. I got these from a store called Ally Fashion for like $12. My top is from JCPenney. I love the length of this crop top, it’s so hard to find ones that cover my belly button but this one does! Under my shirt I’m wearing this adorable peach colored lace bralette from Victoria’s Secret PINK. My sandals are Flojos from Costco. They’re surprisingly comfortable, I had no problems walking around the mall for hours. While I was out, I got two pairs of AMAZING wide leg printed pants. I’ve been seeing them everywhere and I’m so glad I finally got some. I’m planning to take some outfit photos wearing them and continue blogging!

peace out

Cat DJ Outfit of the Day

Shirt – Forever 21, jeans – Macy’s, flip flops – Ross

I am so happy I found this shirt! I first saw it in someone’s Instagram picture and HAD to have it. It took a few trips to Forever 21 to finally find it but all’s well that ends well.

DJ Dead Mouse.
Not my joke, but too good not to share.

Anyway, I have been so off my blogging game for a long time now. I constantly think about blogging but I just never get around to making a post. I’m either too lazy to take photos or I just have no inspiration. Hopefully I’ll get a bit better cause I have a few post ideas. I want to write about one of my favorite vegetarian meals, as well as a review on the Glamour Doll Eyes eye shadows I just ordered.

catshirtcaprisunWell, that’s all for now folks. I hope you liked my weird Cat DJ outfit of the day!

The Grove and more vegan food!

Jacket - Tilly's, mint sweatshirt - Whole Foods, gray cami - JC Penney, scarf - Romi, leggings - Forever21, boots - Macy's

Today we had some relatively bad weather (for LA at least). Shopping was our rainy day activity of choice (although we went to an outdoor mall…). It didn’t really rain til later in the day but it was pretty cold so layers were key. I wore my favorite sweatshirt/top thing from Whole Foods, who would have thought that would be a good clothing store? I think the mint keeps the outfit from being too dark, like so many of my outfits are. I also wore one of my favorite scarves, it’s so soft and luxurious.

vegancrabcakeburgersprinklesbagLastly, what’s a Nutmegan blog post without food pictures? This was my first time at Veggie Grill and I had such a hard time choosing what to order! I decided on the vegan crab cake burger because it sounded so unique and it was! After lunch we went over to Sprinkles cupcakes and they had a vegan red velvet cupcake! It was really good, and instead of Sprinkles’ classic fondant circle on top, there was a “V” for vegan. Very cute and delicious.

Lunch and thrifting

Shirt - Urban Outfitters, jeans - Wet Seal, scarf - Target, boots - Macy's, purse - Ross

Shirt – Urban Outfitters, jeans – Wet Seal, scarf – Target, boots – Macy’s, purse – Ross

Today was a pretty casual day. We went out to lunch at Chipotle (delicious) and then went thrift shopping. I went to a thrift store I had never been to before and found two new shirts. I like one of them and kind of regret buying the other, but oh well (it was only $6). I also had class later this night (I started college! I’m only taking one class currently but I start a second one in April). I changed this outfit a little bit for class but didn’t take a photo. Instead, I wore my black Hot Topic jeans and added my Tilly’s black and gray jacket. I feel like this shirt looks so dressy, it makes me feel less slobby than my usual jeans, furry boots and tee shirt. Also, let’s just take a moment to appreciate how great scarves are. Now that this was the most random/poorly thought out post on this blog, I will say goodbye and thanks for reading!

Vegan food and Santa Monica

Vest – some store at Simi Valley mall, v-neck – Forever21, jeans – Macy’s, flip flops – Ross, purse – Ross, sunglasses – Target. spike bracelet – Brandy Melville

My family from out of town is here so we’ve been doing some fun things around southern California. Today we went to lunch at this awesome restaurant called Native Foods Cafe, and we had dessert at Diddy Riese.

This was my delicious vegan reuben sandwich.

It was a little cold out and I forgot my jacket, but it was still fun. I was also wearing my newest Neff beanie, it’s mint green!
ferriswheelviewWe went on the ferris wheel on the pier, I’ve been on it once before but it was still awesome! The view is insane, if you are visiting near Santa Monica I highly recommend it, I think it’s only like $5 per person.
